Draft Environmental Assessment (EA)
The Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) linked below was produced under FHWA NEPA guidelines to determine how the Palmetto Commerce Interchange impacts the environment and the community. The study evaluated several interchange alternatives, and based on the NEPA guidelines, a preferred alternative was selected. Once approved by the FHWA, the Draft EA is presented to the community to review for 30 days.

On Thursday, June 27, Charleston County held a Public Hearing regarding the Palmetto Commerce Interchange Project (PCI). Located in a rapidly growing area of the Interstate 26 corridor, the PCI project is being designed to reduce travel times, improve access, increase traffic mobility in the I-26/Ashley Phosphate Road area, and provide more efficient commute options. We encourage you to provide your comments on the preferred alternative. The project team will use your input to help shape the future of this important project.
