The process used for this noise analysis follows the South Carolina Department of Transportation’s, or SCDOT’s, Traffic Noise Abatement Policy and Guidelines. SCDOT developed the noise policy to meet Federal requirements. Click here to review the SCDOT’s policy.

The purpose of a traffic noise assessment is to determine the existing and future noise levels along a roadway to evaluate whether noise abatement needs to be considered to help reduce noise impacts.

Over the next few slides, we will discuss the noise analysis process. This includes the land uses considered in the analysis and how noise levels and noise impacts are determined. We will also discuss noise abatement considerations and evaluation requirements.
